ADOPTED Champ: The Energetic Pomeranian

Located in Richmond, VA,

Champ came in with his sister, Lady, to a rescue in NC in June. They had the same owner for their entire life, and when she passed away, they found themselves with nowhere to go.

Our sister rescue in NC suffered a catastrophic fire in July that destroyed their home.  Fortunately, they were able to escape and rescue all the animals.  They were left living in an outdoor kennel with no AC.  We quickly mobilized to transport the 7 Poms in their care to Richmond, VA.

Champ is a super friendly, energetic older Pom that comes in at a very thin 8lbs!  He thinks he is your personal security that must follow you to every room, and snuggles up against your legs at bedtime. With Champ by your side, you will never pee alone again. He’s got your back!

He dances on his back legs to beg for treats and talks to you when you are in the kitchen. He does a handstand and pees with his back legs up high, which is quite hilarious to watch.

During the day, he is thrilled to curl up in a bed in the office while his foster mom works and is ready to go outside to the dog yard as soon as the door slides open. He is also potty pad trained for when he can’t get outside.

Champ gets along with everyone and everything! He loves people, kids, cats, and other dogs.

Don’t let his size or age fool you; despite being almost 12 years old (DOB 10/11/13) and 8lbs soaking wet, he gives off puppy energy.

He spent a few days with another family to gauge whether he and his sister, Lady, could be adopted separately. During this time, he played and chased their 9-month-old Corgi around and interacted with their toddlers with the enthusiasm of a puppy. He loves going on walks and wants to go for a jog as soon as the harness is on. If you are looking for a companion to go on long walks with, Champ is your man!

His undercoat is also not very dense, so grooming should not be labor-intensive. He lets you brush and bathe him with no problems, just be sure to have his treat ready!

Champ and his sister can be adopted separately or together. They are both up to date on all vaccines, have been fixed, and have just had complete dental cleanings in August.

Champ’s adoption fee is $500. We offer discounted fees for Seniors adopting Seniors.

If you would like to help sponsor their care and surgical needs, we have set up a GoFundMe for the fire survivors, or visit our Linktree for other options.

Bandit the Brave: A Tiny Superhero in a Fight for His Life

Click on Picture to be taken to Bandits fundraiser

We need to tell you about Bandit.

Also known as The Fearless Fluffball, Braveheart Bandito, El Pequeño Valiente, The Furry Avenger, Mighty Mite, and Burrito Bandito.

This little Pomeranian has the heart of a lion.

We call him our littlest superhero because he once hurled himself sacrificially in front of a moving car to protect the person he loved. No hesitation. No fear.

That’s the kind of dog Bandit is, devoted, brave, and endlessly loving.

A true superhero.

The hallmark of every superhero is a compelling origin story — and Bandit’s is no exception.

Bandit belonged to a woman we call Mother Joy because that’s exactly what she was to him—his sun, his moon, his reason for everything. She adored and doted on little Bandit, and he followed her everywhere. He was her shadow, her guardian, her joyful companion. They were an inseparable duo, and Bandit’s world felt complete.

But then, tragedy struck.

Mother Joy passed away, and Bandit lost everything he knew and loved. Her family loves Bandit dearly and vowed to continue caring for him. But Bandit hasn’t wanted a new family.

He has wanted her.

And his life hasn’t been the same since. He has been sullen, withdrawn, and heartbroken.

So, in an act of great love and heartbreak, her family surrendered him to rescue—knowing he needed someone new to pour his whole heart into. A fresh start. A second chance at happiness. We welcomed Bandit into our care, hoping to help him heal and find that next great love.

But tragedy has struck our little superhero yet again.

Within just days of arriving, Bandit collapsed. Sudden vomiting. Bloody diarrhea. Arching and yelping in pain. We rushed him to emergency care in the middle of the night.

His bloodwork has been alarming, his phosphorus dangerously high, his body critically dehydrated, his intestinal motility gone. He is now undergoing urgent testing and treatment, but the truth is…

Bandit is fighting for his life. And we are fighting for him.

We don’t yet have a full diagnosis. But we do know this:

Bandit deserves every chance.

He deserves to live.

He deserves to love again.

He deserves to find a warm lap, a safe home, and someone who will see him the way Mother Joy did.

But emergency care is expensive, and his bills are already climbing fast.

We need your help to keep this little superhero alive.

Whether it’s $5 or $50, every donation brings us closer to the care Bandit urgently needs.

Every share could help connect him to the person who will help him find his joy again.

Heroes always show up in the story right when they’re needed most.

When the storm clouds gathering.

When hope feels out of reach.

When you think no one is coming…

And heroes don’t always wear capes or make grand entrances.

Sometimes, they just show up quietly.

When things are fragile

When the path forward is unclear.

When a little life is hanging in the balance.

Right now, Bandit needs someone to show up for him.

Because a dog who loves this hard deserves to be loved just as fiercely in return.

Thank you for being part of his rescue story, and for believing in superheroes, for mighty is the tiniest of hearts when it is filled with love.

It is why every dog will always be a superhero to us.

Calling All Heroes… One of our bravest needs backup.

Bandit once threw himself in front of a moving car to protect the person he loved. Now this tiny superhero is fighting for his life.

After losing the only person he ever loved, Bandit came into rescue heartbroken. Days later, he collapsed. He’s now in emergency care, critically ill, and we’re doing everything we can to save him. He deserves to live.

He deserves a second chance. Will you be part of his rescue story?

ADOPTED – Sasha – F – DOB 2/8/22 – CKC Registered

Sasha (aka The Cream Puff Comet, Lady Sassafras, Spinmaster General, or Your Highness of Happiness)

Like her bestie Peaches, Sasha is a 3-year-old, 8-pound Pomeranian with enough joy packed into her tiny frame to power a small village. But where Peaches jumps, Sasha spins. She spins for joy, she spins for meals, she spins because sometimes the world just needs a little twirl.

Sasha is the embodiment of cheerful, well-adjusted canine energy. No baggage, no diva behavior — just pure delight and an excellent sense of timing. She’s spayed, recently vetted, and ready to pirouette her way into someone’s life as a beloved pet and professional mood-booster.

She and Peaches are currently partners in cuteness, but they’re not a bonded pair. Sasha would do wonderfully as a solo floof or with a like-minded fur sibling who can appreciate her moves and not hog the limelight.

If you’re looking for a dog who radiates joy and treats every day like a celebration, Sasha is ready to be your fluffball soulmate.

Sash and Liberty are scheduled to be spayed and have dentals on 4/1. They will be able to go home the following week.

Unfortunately, his owner has been impacted by the federal return to work mandate and has a considerable commute. This necessitated him surrendering his beloved Poms due to not having the time to be with them. In total, 5 were surrendered and will be listed as they are available.

ADOPTED – Peaches – F – DOB 11/30/21 – CKC Registered

Introducing Peaches (aka Ms. Peach Bottom, Jumpin’ Bean, The Duchess of Zoom, and the Peach Fuzz Rocket Express!)

*Please consider that she is a “recent”(this year) mom. Pom moms often lose their coat while they are pregnant and nursing. Their coat takes a couple of months after weaning their pups to recover from all of the hormonal changes and physical demands of nursing.*

At just 3 years old and a fluffy 8 pounds, Peaches is a certified professional joy distributor. This girl bounces through life—literally. She jumps for joy. She jumps for snacks. She jumps just to show you that gravity is a suggestion.

She’s mastered the art of being both ridiculously cute and refreshingly low-maintenance. No behavior issues, no drama — just good vibes and the occasional vertical leap that defies physics. She’s spayed, had a recent dental (she’s down a couple of baby teeth and one molar but don’t worry—she’s still got plenty of sparkle), and is ready for her next gig as someone’s beloved sidekick.

Her current bestie is Sasha, our cream colored pom rescue, who is also available for adoption. While they’re an adorable duo, they’re not bonded, and can be adopted separately. But if you were looking to adopt two, these two would be a fabulous pair to welcome into your home, because life could always use more fluff and fewer dull moments. Peaches would thrive either as your one-and-only fluff queen or with a chill sibling who doesn’t mind sharing the spotlight.

If you’ve got a spot on your couch and a heart that needs softening, Peaches is your girl. If you’re looking for a well-adjusted, hilarious little companion who communicates 90% of her thoughts through eye contact and enthusiastic hops, Peaches is ready to audition for the role of your new best friend.

She does get a little carsick, so be mindful. She has not had much travel experience, so she may grow out of it.

Unfortunately, his owner has been impacted by the federal return to work mandate and has a considerable commute. This necessitated him surrendering his beloved Poms due to not having the time to be with them. In total, 5 were surrendered and will be listed as they are available.

PENDING – Midas – M – 2y – DOB 12/8/22

Meet Midas (aka The Chocolate Teddy Bear, Love Muffin Extraordinaire, Chunky Mocha Monkey, The Cocoa Valentino) Midas is a 2-year-old, AKC registered, chocolate and tan Pomeranian who looks like he stepped straight out of a luxury plush toy collection and into your heart. Weighing just over 11 pounds (most of it charm), he’s the living embodiment of a chocolate teddy bear — soft, sweet, and impossible to resist. With his deep golden eyes and pillowy coat, Midas is a cuddle connoisseur.

He loves being with his people, whether that means snuggling on the couch, following you from room to room and when he gazes up at you, it’s with the soft, unshakable devotion of a dog who believes you are the best thing that’s ever happened to him. Midas has been neutered, his dental done, fully vaccinated and is ready for his next chapter. Like many gentlemen of romantic persuasion, he previously had a tendency to mark indoors, but that’s already improving post-neuter and with a little encouragement and consistency, he’s well on his way to full house manners. He would do best with an understanding family who is comfortable using stylish belly bands while he learns the rules. Affectionate, people-oriented, Midas is ready to sweep you off your feet. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with teddy bear looks and golden-hearted loyalty, look no further! This little chocolatey Casanova is ready to steal your heart.

He was being overfed just a little and ideally he should be under 10 pounds. He will be neutered and have his teeth cleaned on 3/28 and needs 10 days to recover. His shots (DHPP and Rabies) are up to date until 2027.

He will require regular grooming with a stainless steel comb to keep his thick undercoat from getting mats. A quick run-over with a slicker brush after combing will pick up any loose hairs and can easily be done while sitting on the couch watching your favorite shows.

Unfortunately, his owner has been impacted by the federal return to work mandate and has a considerable commute. This necessitated him surrendering his beloved Poms due to not having the time to be with them. In total, 5 were surrendered and will be listed as they are available.

Midas adoption fee is $600.

Rescue Fundraiser

We have recently taken in 6 Pomeranians whose owners could no longer care for them primarily due to recent changes in the government workforce.

Some need to be neutered/spayed and vaccine updates, while all of them need dental cleanings. Veterinary costs have exploded and dentals alone are running $300-400. Anything helps offset these costs and help us find these cuties their forever homes faster.

Thank You!

ADOPTED – Archer – male – DOB 6/29/23

The adoption fee is $600.

Archer is a very handsome, AKC registered, very rare Blue Merle Piebald Parti Pom. He was born on 6/29/2023 and is currently just over 11 pounds. He was being overfed just a little and ideally he should be under 10 pounds. Archer has been neutered and his shots are up to date until 2026 (DHPP) and 2027 (Rabies).

Archer is very personable. He was giving kisses in the car on the way home. He has a massive, gorgeous coat in a very unusual color pattern you rarely see in Poms. He will require regular grooming with a stainless steel comb to keep his thick undercoat from getting mats. A quick run over with a slicker brush after combing will pick up any loose hairs and can easily be done while sitting on the couch watching your favorite shows.

He did get a little queasy on the car ride home and drooled all down his chin. Given the amount of stress involved with being taken from your home and being carted off by 2 strangers, it may or may not be an ongoing issue.

Unfortunately, his owner has been impacted by the federal return to work mandate and has a considerable commute. This necessitated him surrendering his beloved Poms due to not having the time to be with them. In total, 5 were surrendered and will be listed as they are available.

ADOPTED – Bear (DOB 1/8/20)

Bear is a very handsome, neutered, red sable Pom. He is very energetic and still has that puppy playfulness.  He goes crazy trying to get his sister to play with him, but she mostly ignores him. Please don’t hold his haircut against him, it is growing out!

He is quiet during the day while I’m working and stays in a bed by my desk.  He was confused hearing me on a conference call at first and kept barking because he couldn’t find the people talking in the house, but he’s ok now.

He is SUPER playful and has that puppy energy. He made friends quickly with another foster, Demi, and they get pretty rowdy wrestling each other. He is submissive and allowed Demi to be the alpha dog.

He can be sensitive about having the back of his neck touched until he knows you. He nipped us when trying to put a harness off/on.  We have been working with him on this and it seems to be a trust issue.  We don’t know if something happened to him in the past.  He got past it quickly and doesn’t do this to us anymore.

History

He is crate trained.

Bear was surrendered with his sister Truffles.  They were acquired during COVID and the son ended up being severely allergic.  They tried multiple treatments and methods, but just couldn’t get his allergies under control.  The family was devastated by having to make this agonizing decision.

He was shaved down for summer, but it is growing back.  You can see in the pictures that he has a gorgeous coat when he is grown in.

What does she need?

Bear should be in a home without young children. His tendency to nip at fingers when surprised by a touch on the back of the neck isn’t good for tiny hands.  Especially since the back of the neck is where kids like to pet first.

His family should be a little active to help him work off some of his energy either with walks or rowdy play sessions.  He likes to cuddle, but doesn’t sit still for long.

We would love for brother and sister to be adopted together (a discounted adoption rate would apply). However, after evaluation, they are not a bonded pair and can be separated.

Adoption fee is $500.

ADOPTED – Truffles (DOB 4/20/20)

Truffles is a gorgeous, spayed, brown & white Beaver Pom. She is extremely loving and affectionate. If she had her way she would loaf around all day in your lap until it was time for bed.  At night she is quite fond of spooning with her person.  Sometimes I must push her away so I can move my legs to the other direction.  LOL!  She is chunky and needs to drop 1-2 pounds from her tiny frame.

Her personality is very quiet and gentle. She is a bit timid until she gets to know you.

Truffles is learning her leash manners, but she is a Houdini and likes to slip out of her harness and run off on her own adventures.  After the second time, we double-harnessed her as a precaution (see pic).  That’s the first time we have ever had to do that.  Luckily, she is very chunky so while she is fast out the gate, she doesn’t have much stamina.

After the first couple days, she didn’t try to get away anymore. I believe it was just a fear response because of all the changes. She is getting used to the harness and leash, but she doesn’t like to go for walks. She just plants her fluffy little butt down and looks at us like we are crazy to think she will walk with the other peasants.

She is quite smart.  She figured out that we have a doggy door and how to use it without being shown.  Usually, we have to show a newcomer the door and push/coax them through it a few times until they get the hang of it.

History

She is crate trained. Her previous owner says she is great with kids.

She was surrendered with her brother Bear.  They were acquired during COVID and the son ended up being severely allergic.  They tried multiple treatments and methods, but just couldn’t get his allergies under control.  The family was devastated by having to make this agonizing decision.

She was shaved down for summer, but it is growing back.  You can see in the pictures she has a lovely coat when grown in.  Since she is a beaver, her nose and eyelids are brown instead of the usual black which compliments her coat very nicely.

What does she need?

Truffles would do well with someone that loves to cuddle, doesn’t mind sharing their lap, but doesn’t expect to be slobbered with kisses.  She gives kisses, just very demurely.

She needs a home that will work with her on her weight and get her into shape. She would be an excellent apartment dog.

We would love for brother and sister to be adopted together (a discounted adoption rate would apply). However, after evaluation, they are not a bonded pair and can be separated.

Adoption fee is $500.

ADOPTED – Demi (DOB 4/10/22 approx)

Demi is a pure bred (DNA Tested), 2.5 year old, 6 lb., Black and Tan girl with a super silky coat that you want to stroke for hours which is fine with her!  She has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date with all her vaccines including a 3-year rabies certificate.

Demi’s personality is super sweet.  She loves being with her people, snuggling on the couch, or laying against your leg in bed.  She loves going on walks and is ok on a leash.  She tends to pull on the lead and could use some work on heeling.  She gets along with other dogs, and we are told she loves to splash around in water. She would make a great therapy or agility dog.

History

Demi has had 3 homes in her short years through no fault of hers.  Her first mom had her for a year but had to go into assisted living with no dogs allowed.  Her second mom had her for a little over a year, but sadly, she passed away.  Her daughter planned on keeping her, but she works full time and after 10 hours alone every day, Demi would work herself up so much she would make herself sick, so she made the heartbreaking decision to find her a new home more suited to her needs.

In September 2023 while playing with her mom’s grandson, she broke her rear leg in 4 places (ouch!). He had her in a sling and it sounds like she jumped out and landed on the concrete patio. It was surgically repaired, and you would never know it happened without an x-ray showing the hardware in her leg.  She does like to jump up and down from the couch and recliner so stairs for the couch would be a recommended investment.  Post-op she did have 2 seizures.  This Is not uncommon with the small breeds as their blood sugar can drop very fast and appetites are often decreased immediately following surgery.  She did see a neurologist and had a full work up that found no underlying cause.  This would be something to make not of with your vet for future procedures (dental or other surgeries).

Grooming can be a challenge.  She has allowed us to brush her a little, but we are told mani-pedi’s are a 2 person job.  We had to clean her bum, and it took 2 of us.

When she was surrendered, we were told she was terrified of feet, but we have not experienced this.  She follows me around the house right at my feet and lays next to them on the couch.

What does Demi need?

Most importantly, she must have a home where she is not left alone for long stretches of time every day. If you have a home where everyone goes to work/school every day, she is not for you.  I think she would like another dog to play with also.  She has tried to initiate play with our Poms, but they are 17 & 11 and don’t play much.

With her tendency to jump on/off furniture and follow around on your feet, young children are not recommended.  Children over 12 would be okay as long as they understand how delicate Poms bones can be.

She seems equally interested in spending time with both my husband and me so she would likely be a great family Pom and not be attached to only one person.

I would really like to see her go to a family or couple under 65.  She has already lost 2 moms due to old age in her short life.  Poms expected life span is 14-16 years, so I would like her next home to be her last home.

Adoption fee is $500.
